Cincinnati Dispatch #01
Ezzard Charles 1921-1975 AKA "The Cincinnati Cobra"
Growing up in Cincinnati, Ezzard Charles Drive was a major thoroughfare in the downtown area and held a familiar cadence on the radio and local news in regards to flooding, traffic, parade routes and occasional violence.
Not until years later did I discover Ezzard was a highly respected professional boxer, rated by Ring Magazine as the greatest light heavyweight of all time IN ADDITION to being a skilled double bass player, playing with some of the greats at Birdland in the 40's and 50's.
